Raise the spirits

Fitz and Cleo Put a Party by Jonathan Stutzman

September 28, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I am usually not a huge Fitz and Cleo fan, though I do enjoy them. And even though Cleo can have a lot of “muchness” to her, they are sweet characters that are familiar and cozy. However, even though Cleo is still unapologetically herself (a bit naughty, mischievous, and a smidgen bossy), this book, Fitz and Cleo Put a Party on It was terribly pleasantly sweet and the perfect amount of silly. It is probably my favorite out of the books I have read of this brother and sister […]

I got the twos for you

Llama Unleashes the Alpacalypse by Jonathan Stutzman

I See a Shadow by Laura Breen

October 15, 2020 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

As I stand by your pages I get cut once again Feelin’ low down, I’m blue Yes, darlin’ I’ve the twos for you. My apologizes to the original author of “I’ve Got the Blues,” but I wanted to introduce two books that might not be the “best” (for me anyway, therefore, making them Twos) in a unique way. But while I know that these are not for me, I know that somewhere, someone out there will be singing their praises and not have The Twos. […]

Learn why you should NOT feed the coos!

Don’t Feed the Coos! by Jonathan Stutzman

February 7, 2020 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Don’t Feed the Coos! is a book I saw on a list that was promoting strong female characters. To be honest, I am not sure I completely agree with that. The main character is female, but not sure if she is actually a role model. I will leave that up to you. I think that Jonathan Stutzman created a story that is a “love it or hate it book” there will be no in between for most people. For me, there was something was missing. […]

By Friday, Llama will destroy the world

Llama Destroys the World by Jonathan Stutzman

June 27, 2019 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I had high hopes for Llama Destroys the World. (As I somewhat liked Tiny T. Rex and it just sounded funny). Okay, the title does not instill confidence, but I was expecting a Llama hero causing an accident and then POOF! Magically saves the day. What happened instead was a piggy llama who ate all the cake, got too big for his britches (literally) and caused not only a rip in his pants but the universe as well with a black hole. Now, many think […]

on A family can be two sisters, one of those sister’s descendants, two other sisters, a magic whale, a sentient island, an omnipotent museum, and academic papers
Made a mistake - there's no 'the' in the title. And the book had me at the cover too.
