Ms. Marvel is Magnificently Marvelous!

January 8, 2015 by AmySaysREAD 4 Comments

Hey y’all! I just read the new Ms. Marvel, featuring a Muslim-American teen, and it is AWESOME. My full review is over on my blog. I hope you like it as much as I did!

Rocket Raccoon and his Human Hangers-on

January 7, 2015 by Emmalita 14 Comments

Last year before the Guardians of the Galaxy movie was released, I confessed that I had never been a comics reader and I felt overwhelmed about where to start.  As usual, Pajibans were helpful and suggested I start with Guardians of the Galaxy: Legacy.  I bought it, I read it and I enjoyed it.  But for some reason, I was not up to writing a review.  On Sunday, while I was waiting for a friend, I opened up my Kindle library and decided to […]

The space opera you didn’t know you were waiting for

January 3, 2015 by llp 4 Comments

Realistically, most people have heard of, read about or enjoyed Saga already. All those raves you already heard about are absolutely merited – this is one of best graphic novel series I have ever read, and I am including Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series in my assessment. Brian K. Vaughn, who wrote the excellent Y: The Last Man Standing series, and artist Fiona Staples, have created a pretty much perfect series. It is a space opera, in the best sense of the phrase, filled with intergalactic […]

Chaos, Confusion, Twain and Tesla

January 3, 2015 by sistercoyote 2 Comments

The Five Fists of Science, by Matt Fraction (Art by Steven Sanders) is one of those books. I really wanted to like it, and it has a promising premise, but in the end it’s more a fun concept than a good story. Is it a graphic novelette? Yes. Is it steampunk? Sort of. Is it a superhero comic? Maybe? Lovecraftian? Yes, that. Is it an Alternate History with Famous Personages? Yes, also that. Plus, I think there was some influence from Godzilla and also possibly […]

I did it, I really really did it!

December 31, 2014 by Robyn Robotron 6 Comments

It’s a Fables encyclopedia. But, more importantly, I made it!!  I almost didn’t think I was going to.  This has been wonderful fun.  I’m definitely signing up for next year, except I’m only committing to a half Cannonball.  With a new baby on the way, and how close I came to the wire on this one, I don’t think I can make it to 52 next year.  Thanks to everyone for the interesting reviews and to MsWas for keeping this ship afloat.  I hope everyone […]

Harajuku Rapunzel

First Gwen Stefani, now Rapunzel?  I do have to say, I love her style, especially that bathroom haircut and her final fight outfit with that fuzzy coat that I’m not going to tell you what it’s made of.
