The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Isn’t that the very definition of power? Watching people kill themselves over something that means nothing to you? ― Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo …do yourself a favor and learn to grab life by the balls, dear. Don’t be so tied up in trying to do the right thing when the smart thing is so painfully clear. ― Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo CBR17 Bingo: Favorite Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of my favorite authors. Dash and Davis star in Reno Rendezvous!

It Happened One Fight by Maureen Lee Lenker

July 28, 2023 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

He’d shown her that there was another way than what she’d always believed love to be. That love could be quiet and mysterious. That a person could be her port in a storm rather than the hurricane itself.” It Happened One Fight It Happened One Fight is Entertainment Weekly columnist Maureen Lee Lenker’s debut novel. Patti Murin narrates well, giving each character a distinctive voice. Joan Davis and Dash Howard are gold together on the screen, but they hate each other off screen. Well, Joan […]

This has got to be the most misleading title ever

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

June 30, 2021 by Mobius_Walker Leave a Comment

Today is June 30th and the end of Pride month. How very fitting that I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo today. This book is queer as hell, and I had no idea going in. I just knew that I loved Daisy Jones and the Six by Reid, and this book came highly praised by friends and Cannonballers alike. I loved nearly every moment of it. This book is told through two main points of view, that of Evelyn Hugo and that of her biographer Monique Grant. […]

One of My Favorite Books of the Year

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

August 27, 2019 by Jen K 2 Comments

This novel had been on my radar and TBR list ever since narfna’s review over a year ago.  I didn’t end up reading it till this past May because I was on a fantasy kick and wasn’t sure if I was in the mood for something more straightforward.  However, I finally hit the point where I needed to switch it up so my reading has been a bit more varied this year. I met a good friend of mine for coffee shortly after reading this […]

My Sister Hated It

July 24, 2017 by G.D. Giant Leave a Comment

My sister hated The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.  I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.  I think I wanted more, or, maybe, I just wanted it to be better. It glosses over a lot of Evelyn’s relationships and especially with the relationship that Evelyn claimed was the most important. I also had the same problem with it that I had with All the Stars in the Heavens in that, reading this book from the mindset of someone not living in those […]
