Pusheen the Cat is back with a brand-new collection of adorable comics, expert advice, and silly antics featuring Pusheen and all her friends! Pusheen the Cat’s Guide to Everything is a cute counter book for anyone who is a Pusheen fan. We follow this beloved kitty along with their friends and family. When I get bored, I look for trouble. Or books. Whichever is easier to find

Supergirl Adventures: Girl of Steel by Various

Superman Adventures: Lex Luthor, Man of Metropolis by Various

Justice League Unlimited: Girl Power by Various

Dear DC Super-Villains by Michael Northrop

DC Super Hero Girls: Midterms by Amy Wolfram

When I get bored, I look for trouble. And since I have no idea what trouble looks like, I usually find a book, or five books. Granted, none are more than a 150-200 pages each. Just quick young graphic novels that were not really “that young” with some mature themes, issues and images going on. In Supergirl Adventures: Girl of Steel we are introduce to Kara (aka Supergirl) from a young girl on her home planet, to the day Krypton was destroyed and the sister […]

It’s not classified so read about a spy!

Spy School the Graphic Novel by Stuart Gibbs

by Leave a Comment

Spy School the Graphic Novel is based from the Stuart Gibbs series of the same name. This is a modern take on the super spy but with all the classic elements. James Bond might have been smoother, but never as funny. Not having read the novels, I am not sure how they compare, but either graphic novel would be good for ages 10 and up. We follow a kid who is recruited for a special CIA run spy-creating school. Only he thinks it is a […]

Not for young in age, but young at heart

My Little Pony: Friends Forever Omnibus, Vol. 3. by Various

I’m a kid of the 1980s and still a fan of good Saturday morning cartoons. One of those was The Transformers (okay good might be a loosely used term, but I stand by it) and sure, I was a little into My Little Ponies, but not like my younger sister (who btw is mom to a nephew I will mention in a bit, but as I only have the one sibling, that is redundant). When I saw that the powers that be had created a […]

Paul is a Blue Hippo and John is hanging upside down

Paul is Dead by Paola Baron

by Leave a Comment

Paul is Dead. How many Beatles fans know that story? Paul McCartney died at the height of Beatlemania and was replaced with a copy. And Paola Baron explores that idea in Paul is Dead, a speculation fiction graphic novel that causes questions of fame, reality, and self to have more questions than answers. I do not want to know what Baron or illustrator Ernesto Carbonetti were smoking when they created this realistically abstract, realistic-surrealism book, because John Lennon was not the only one having an […]

The Guardian Test (Legends of Lotus Island #1) by Christina Soontornvat

by Leave a Comment

If Harry Potter and Avatar the Last Airbender had a story together The Guardian Test (Legends of Lotus Island #1) by Christina Soontornvat would be the results. This is a simple and sweet magical coming of age story. We know the plot, but not how things will unfold exactly. It is not overly packed with surprises, but the aged aimed at reader will be wondering what happens next. Kevin Hong will be the illustrator of this aged eight and up (solo read) novel, but probably […]
