It’s really cute how these Doctor Who books do a pre-credits scene before the first chapter. You can practically hear the theme song in your head.

“Orange” you glad I didn’t say banana?
“Orange” is the title of the Neil Gaiman story included in this book, and as it was his name on the cover that got be to buy it in the first place, I thought it should get some sort of mention. While I enjoyed that story, it wasn’t my absolute favorite, so I left it out of my review.

1001 Nights, for Beginners
Engraved on the Eye is a collection of 8 short stories told in various settings of Fantasy Middle East, drawing on Islamic and Middle Eastern folklore. It’s an extremely quick read. The stories are entertaining and the characters are lively, jovial, and diverse. Every story has some sort of supernatural creatures; ghuls feature prominently, along with ghul-hunters, martial artists, gunslingers, supervillains, rogues, dervishes,bounty hunters, and shaykhs.
