Bodies, bodies, bodies, but make it ancient Egypt

Death Comes as the End by Agatha Christie

November 20, 2022 by Wanderlustful Leave a Comment

Death Comes as the End is an Agatha Christie mystery set in ancient Egypt; it is the only historical mystery Christie wrote, and the only one to feature entirely non-European characters. The novel kicks off with the family patriarch, Imhotep, returning home to Thebes (modern day Luxor) with a new concubine, Nofret. Nofret, who is decades younger than her new partner, is beautiful but cruel. She quickly antagonizes the rest […]

4, 4 for 4

Hawkeye, Vol. 1: My Life As A Weapon by Matt Fraction

Death Comes As The End by Agatha Christie

Country Dark by Chris Offutt

Heaven's A Lie by Wallace Stroby

I know this is what everyone wants thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’m not sure it’s what […]

Three tales of Agatha Christie

April 23, 2017 by Aquillia Leave a Comment

I had a browse in a used bookstore the other day and came away with three very cheap, old paperbacks of Agatha Christie, ones I either hadn’t read in ages and had forgotten or had somehow missed. They have been perfect reading just before bed; usually I read on my phone/kindle app but have been enjoying not staring into a screen just before I sleep. I will organize them in order of reading, as the first two were about the same in ranking–fairly solid Christie contributions without being […]
