Scooby Doo, where are you Batman?

The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries, Vol. 1 by various

Greener on the Other Side (Batman / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures) by Matthew K. Manning and Jon Sommariva

Like comics? Like cartoons? Like fun mashups? See below for some possible fun. So you like Batman? And you like Scooby Doo? Well, The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries, Vol. 1 is a fun way to get your fix of both. While we have the Batman villains, the Scooby Doo humor comes into play. Various stories (with Batman, different Robins, Nightwing, Joker, Batgirl and more, some new to me, or maybe just lesser known overall) intertwin the DC universe with the Scooby Gang. There is even […]

Never meet your heroes

My Buddy, Killer Croc by Sara Farizan

by Leave a Comment

The focus of having the character of Killer Croc (Waylon Jones) as the “hero” in the Sara Farizan and Nicoletta Baldari graphic novel, My Buddy, Killer Croc, is a familiar but good twist. However, the one thing I was wondering is if the reader will understand that Killer Croc, no matter how “good or nice” he seems, is not a “good guy” due to how he is mostly good to the main character (or seems to be on the surface). There is an interesting nod to […]

When a Green Lantern fought a bad guy and made a new team member in the process

Green Lantern: Alliance by Min Le

If you like superheroes and especially DC superheroes, you should try some of the (to me) less popular ones, like Green Lantern. And because of the way the Green Lantern is set up, there are literally the possibilities for thousands of different ones. Including kids. We followed the origin story of Tai Pham in Green Lantern: Legacy also by Min Le and Andie Tong. With Green Lantern: Alliance (including Sarah Stern,Carrie Strachan, and Saida Temofonte) we see how Tai is trying to balance school, his […]

Blue Beetle, Volume 1: Metamorphosis by Tony Bedard, Ig Guera (Illustrator), J.P. Mayer (Illustrator), Ruy Jose (Illustrator)

Blue Beetle, Volume 2: Blue Diamond by Tony Bedard, Ig Guera (Illustrator), Marcio Takara (Illustrator)

One of my friends asked me to go with her to see the new Blue Beetle movie and I agreed, knowing nothing about the character. She knew that, as I’m notoriously not a comics reader, so she handed me two volumes of the comic when we went to see Across the Spiderverse together last month. I put it off until the last minute, but as we’re going tomorrow, I figured I better get to it. All I can say is that I hope the movie […]

“Batgirl, Batgirl! Batgirl, Batgirl! Where do you come from, where do you go? What is your scene, baby, we just gotta know”

Batgirls Volume 2: Bat Girl Summer by Becky Cloonan

The crew: by Becky Cloonan, Michael Conrad, Neil Googe (Artist), Robbi Rodriguez (Artist), Scott Godlewski (Inker), Wayne Faucher (Inker), Rico Renzi (Colorist), Becca Carey (Letterer) I have a habit of finding book or volume two in a series. This time I found Batgirls Volume 2: Bat Girl Summer. In my defense, I did not see volume two on it anyplace, just Bat Girl. And Batgirl on the cover. I was looking for something different from my usual graphic novels and while it is not high […]

The Amazing John “The Kid” Constantine will pull a magic trick out of his sleeve, or destroy the world. Whichever comes first.

The Mystery of the Meanest Teacher: A Johnny Constantine Graphic Novel by Ryan North

by Leave a Comment

Do you like DC comics for the pre-teen to teen level? Then you might like The Mystery of the Meanest Teacher: A Johnny Constantine Graphic Novel by Ryan North, with Derek Charm as the illustrator. It is a fun story with a few magical twists, and how middle school/boarding school can be a real killer. This is a superhero story with an overconfident protagonist, and with a lot of magic. We follow John “The Kid” Constantine, as a middle school student, who gets into some trouble […]
