The Red Ear Blows Its Nose: Poems for Children and Others by Robert Schechter

October 25, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I enjoy poetry. But recently I have concluded that I need fun and lighter poetry. Yet, I want it to be adult aimed. The Red Ear Blows Its Nose: Poems for Children and Others fits all categories but being only adult geared. However, I do not think a child would mind sharing their poetry book, nor the adult either. These poems were the best of both worlds. Oh sure, maybe they could have been a smidgen more serious, but what was grabbing me was that […]

Finally read this classic children’s book!

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

CBR BINGO 14: Verse, because it’s a collection of classic children’s poetry My father likes to send me little Brain Teaser quizzes, and recently we had one about matching the covers of classic books to their titles. I told him I got all of them correct, but I had read only 7 out of 10. The Hagens have created poetry (which is translated by David Colmer) in an old school-old fashioned tone. These are poems sound as if your grandparents had read them when they were children. Yet, the book is publisher 2022 (I cannot see if […]

There really were too many bare behinds in this

A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein

February 15, 2022 by BlackRaven 2 Comments

You love him. You hate him. But either way this classic is still here. I realized as I was reading A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein, I do not think I have actually read a Silverstein book cover to cover. Maybe The Giving Tree, but I could not say for sure.  I do know that I have read poems from/had poems read from a few books. And, in fact two that I remember from here, (though mostly the idea of them and not […]
