An Engrossing Read

High Towers by Thomas B. Costain

Can’t find the cover – it’s a red hardcover Doubleday dated 1949 cbr18bingo Wealth I was such a Costain fan in my teenage years, since Palm Springs summers are long and hot and we only got to the library once a week.  And if you are speedy reader, you want a book that you can sink your teeth into, and Costain delivered.  Locations varied, time lines varied, but it was always a good meaty situation with plenty of believable characters.  And even now, once again, […]

He spends nearly a million dollars on a birthday present for his wife, but thinks $10k is […]

Baby University: Black Holes for Babies by Chris Ferrie and Julia Kregenow PhD

July 24, 2026 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Black Holes for Babies by Chris Ferrie and Julia Kregenow PhD (read via an online reader and due in November 2026) would be great for up to second grade or to help an older student organize their thoughts and understanding on the subject. However, if it is like others I have seen in the Baby University series, the slightly oversized board book format might turn those older readers off. However, I am not positive of the final form and hope the adults (parent, teacher, aunt, […]
