He’s whispering at your door… DO NOT LET HIM IN

The Whisper Man by Alex North

September 25, 2026 by kfishgirl 3 Comments

My friend at work recommended this book to me. Once I finished it I reached out to her to tell her how much I liked it. She was like “Oh, I didn’t read it, but there’s a movie of it on Netflix and it looked good”. I was like “oh haha, well I read the book on your recommendation and loved it”. I mean I loved it as much as you can love a book about kids getting kidnapped and murdered, alcoholism, parent death… We’re […]

TRIGGER WARNING FOR BOOK. Review is safe.  and my FREE BINGO becuase I thought it would be funny to have all the circles filled and I really couldn’t make up my mind which one I wanted to use for Or (‘cause really you can’t trust anyone OR can you?)   Like the last few years, my New Year’s Resolutions this year were to read more books and different books than usual. However, the second one proved tricky. I’d start something out of my wheelhouse and […]

What Is to Come Has Already Been Decided

The Angel Maker by Alex North

March 12, 2023 by Pooja Leave a Comment

Katie and her brother Chris have had a strained relationship ever since the brutal attack on Chris that changed their lives forever. Decades later, it might be too late to fix things when Chris goes missing. In this book, we are introduced to two separate mysteries that inevitably wind together – the disappearance of Chris Shaw, and the murder of Alan Hobbs – and the way that they come together made me exercise my brain and sometimes stretched my incredulity. I would hesitate to call […]

I read this book a month and a half ago, and it seems like a lot has happened since then… I cannot remember all the things I thought while reading this book, but I gave it 4 stars, so I must have liked it. This books follows a man named Paul who has returned to his hometown to care for his ailing mother. Being back home brings back memories of his friendship with some local boys – James, Charlie, and Billy. The latter two are […]

“So.” She drummed her fingers on the book. “You’re a grown man who still reads ghost and monster stories.”

The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher

Verity by Colleen Hoover

A Cosmology of Monsters by Shaun Hamill

(4 stars) The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher Kingfisher tells us from chapter one that the dog (Bongo, best dog ever) and the narrator (Mouse, also quite enjoyable) will be okay at the end of the book. This is good, because I liked them both very much, and this book was SO CREEPY that I really needed some reassurances by the end. Mouse gets called up by her dying father to help with his dead mother’s estate — specifically, the big old house in the […]

I'm not generally into shifter romances, but the title really is awesome.
