Disclaimer! This was granted to me by Open Road Integrated Media through NetGalley in return for a fair and unbiased review. Aerin is the lonely, ostracized daughter of the ruler of Damar. She has pale skin and fiery red hair amongst a people who are bronzed with dark hair. She cannot even remember who first told her the story, but she has known for as long as she can remember that her mother was a commoner witch-woman who came from the North, who ensorcelled the […]

You guys, this book was a such thrill-ride
I snooze, I lose. I was hoping to be the first one to publish a review of Skin Game, but Emmalita/Rochelle beat me to it. Standard spoiler warning! This is book 15 in the series. You don’t want to start here. If you’re not caught up with the series, you may want to skip this review, because while I’m going to try to not spoil this actual book, I can’t actually avoid spoilers for some of the previous ones. It took me a long time to get hooked on these […]
Airships and mercenaries and bandits and adventure
Part One: The Kraken King and the Scribbling Spinster – 4 stars Part Two: The Kraken King and the Abominable Worm – 4 stars Part Three: The Kraken King and the Fox’s Den – 4.5 stars Part Four: The Kraken King and the Inevitable Abduction – 4 stars Because The Kraken King is being published in eight weekly instalments, I’m going to blog the first four as one book, and the final four as another, mainly because I don’t want to wait until I’ve read all the parts to share my […]
It’s just so amazing, you guys. Why aren’t you ALL reading it?
This trade paperback volume of Saga collects issues 13-18. It’s an ongoing series, and you really should be starting at the beginning. It’s also the best comic book/graphic novel series I’ve read in probably a decade, so if you haven’t read it, run to your nearest comics shop and come back when you’ve caught up. Also, it goes without saying that there may be spoilers here for earlier in the series. Marko’s mother has decided to join her son and his new family on their quest to find […]
Paper Towns and Paper Girls: Manic Pixie Ideals Hurt Everyone
I bought Paper Towns by John Green because I’m mildly obsessed with him and I loved The Fault in Our Stars. I very unfairly thought I’d be a little disappointed by Paper Towns because I was aware of my high expectations, but I was wrong. It’s fantastic. The Fault in Our Stars is about losing someone you love totally unfairly to cancer. Paper Towns is about losing someone you love out of the blue, not knowing what happened to her, and slowly figuring out that […]
