Looking back on 2017… fondly?

January 30, 2018 by MsWas Leave a Comment

2017 might have been a craptacular year in many regards, but there’s one thing that was awesome: you. Yes YOU! In total, 123 Cannonballers reviewed 4,146 books. That’s 30% more than last year. We’ve read nearly 25,000 books in AlabamaPink’s name since the beginning of CBR, and we’ve donated $3,000 to the American Cancer Society in her name.

Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: Halbs

January 18, 2018 by MsWas 12 Comments

I read more, I read more deeply, and I also read more boldly. I am more open now about being (1) an avid reader and (2) loving the books that I love. As a happy result of being more forthcoming, I’m now in a book club and a regular book exchange. That’s big for me. CBR […]

Which Amanda? THIS Amanda!

December 19, 2017 by MsWas Leave a Comment

I must admit that when I received my Book Exchange gift, I had to check with faintingviolet to see just which Amanda had sent it! I remembered from November’s Cannon Fodder newsletter that there are FIVE Amandas signed up for CBR9!  Never fear though, her CBR handle was right there in front of me: thank you Amanda!

Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: Emmalita

December 6, 2017 by MsWas 16 Comments

How many times have you participated in CBR? Has it changed the way you read? This is my 5th year. I think I read both more thoughtfully and with less anxiety. My first year, I was anxious and writing reviews as if they would be graded. That influenced the books I chose and the way I read them. As I became more integrated into the community, I have become less self conscious about my reading choices and more focused on what I have to say […]
