Second CBR11 Donation to the American Cancer Society

September 16, 2019 by MsWas Leave a Comment

Today we made our second donation of CBR11 to the American Cancer Society in memory of AlabamaPink. Thanks to generous contributions from people like you, ad revenue from this site, profits from our merchandise on RedBubble and earnings from our Amazon affiliate links, we’ve been able to give $125 today. Along with our donation in May, that brings us to $325 for the year, and brings our grand total of donations to $4,950. So close to 5K! We’ll be having a big donation push in […]

Why I Cannonball

June 25, 2019 by MsWas 10 Comments

I can still vividly remember clicking onto Pajiba in March of 2009, to see Dustin’s post that AlabamaPink had died from leukemia. I know I gasped aloud and started reading thinking “no, no, no, no.” How could the death of this person I’d never met affect me so much? A young mother, whose witty, snarky comments had made me laugh was no longer on this Earth, and I was just sitting at a computer, expected to carry on the work of the day as usual. […]

First CBR11 Donation to the American Cancer Society

May 12, 2019 by MsWas Leave a Comment

On this Mother’s Day,  we’ve made our first donation of CBR11 to the American Cancer Society in memory of AlabamaPink. Thanks to generous contributions from people like you, ad revenue from this site, profits from our merchandise on RedBubble and earnings from our Amazon affiliate links, we’ve been able to give $200 today. Amanda “AlabamaPink” Amos was one of the original “Eloquents” at the pop-culture website, Pajiba, and her challenge with Brian Prisco formed the first Cannonball Read. Since she lost her battle with leukemia, AlabamaPink has […]

2018 Was Amazing!

January 22, 2019 by MsWas 4 Comments

Last year was the tenth anniversary of Cannonball Read, commemorating the first CBR where Prisco challenged AlabamaPink, a fellow Pajiban who was fighting leukemia, to read 100 books in a year. These days you can read pretty much anything: graphic novels, children’s books, cookbooks, self-help books, fiction, non-fiction, romance, speculative fiction, you name it. You just have to be able to write at least 250 words about it.

CBR11 Has Begun!

January 1, 2019 by MsWas Leave a Comment

We’ve made improvements to the fields where you enter the information about the book(s) in your review. This year you may enter multiple books (along with their respective amazon links), and the website will automatically calculate the quantity and increment your CBR11 total. You can find more detailed information about these changes in the Cannonball Read FAQ. If you are registered for this year’s Read, go ahead and get posting! And if you haven’t registered yet, there is still time to do so.
