Silence of the lambs anyone??

A fascinating book around profiling serial rapists and murderers. This book follows John as he joins the FBI and initiates the concept of profiling criminals in an attempt to help catch future criminals. The book looks at the introduction of this technique purely through John’s interest in how and why serial offenders commit the crimes they do. Despite John providing details of various crimes in a way of illustrating how he “gets into the minds” of the criminals, this book is not overly gruesome. […]

Is this a dagger I see before me?

Another great Jo Nesbo book. This is not part of the Harry Hole series (which I absolutely love), this is more of a stand alone book. I enjoyed this book for a few reasons. Firstly, Macbeth is my all time favourite Shakespeare text. So I am always happy to read modern adaptations. Jo has done a remarkable job of making this a modern story. He has kept all of the main story lines, but adapted it to a police setting. The story begins with […]

A great Aussie mystery

November 11, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

This book was a great read. I enjoyed the characters, the mystery, the revealing of information, the pace, and the feel of the book. It’s always exciting reading books from Australia and understanding the feel of everything. Scrublands is about a journalist, Martin,  who is sent to a small town to report on how the town is coping one years after a massacre. The book delves into rural living, drought, mateship and secrets. One year ago, the local priest shot five parishioners and […]

Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions!

Wow! What a book! In a nutshell this book is about loneliness. The book is written from the perspective of Eleanor. We learn more about who she is and her history as the book progresses. Most of the clues seem to come from her interactions with people and what they say to her, as Eleanor is different yet content with not fitting in. She is a creature of habit with little social skills and prefers to keep to herself. As the book progresses, Eleanor […]

A fabulous mystery!

November 7, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Before I write about the actual book, I would like to comment on Megan as an author. This is her debut novel, which I decided to read after reading her other book ‘The Escape Room’. I need to comment on how impressed I am with her as an author. I loved ‘The Escape Room’ and I have equally loved ‘The Girl in Keller’s Way’. I am looking forward to more books by Megan as I am incredibly impressed with her writing skills as well […]

Disappointing

October 27, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

Hmmm, it pains me to say it, but I was not a fan of this book at all. This is hard to write, as I have loved every other one of Liane’s books. This book had a lot of great components, such as the build up – 9 strangers away for a week at a health retreat where things are done ‘differently.’ Fabulous back story to each of the characters involved, where more and more of the characters’ histories are revealed at a great […]
