Emmalita's Reviews:

I Don’t Care If These Stars Ever Get Charted

November 26, 2018 by Emmalita 2 Comments

I’ve been listening to a lot of audiobooks lately, and a lot of those books have been straight science fiction. When S.K. Dunstall’s Stars Uncharted came across my path, I was intrigued enough to take a risk on an author with whom I am unfamiliar. The description sounded a bit like Firefly. The book description is a lie and it led me to make an unwise recommendation.

Ms. Marvel Returns and WHY AREN’T YOU READING THIS?

November 24, 2018 by Emmalita 6 Comments

Narfna and I have talked about it and we agree – G. Willow Wilson’s run of Ms. Marvel is consistently one of the best comic books out there. It’s hard for us to keep repeating ourselves on this – It’s great and you should be reading it.

A Very Pajiba Debut

November 23, 2018 by Emmalita 2 Comments

I’ve known Lulu Smith (not her real name) online for a few years now. Among other things we’ve bonded over our judgmental animal companions. She has feline office assistants, who find her lacking. My dog’s side eye has an international fan base. She has talked about her writing process for a couple of years, so I knew she had a book coming soon. When she offered a copy in exchange for an honest review, I jumped on the offer. I jumped, and then I froze, because what if I hated it?

Books Help Keep Kids’ Hearts Open in Fearful Times

October 29, 2018 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I teach an ethics class for little kids on Sunday mornings. It’s a small group and the kids don’t come every Sunday, because lives are complicated. The group ranges in age from 3 to 9, so it can be a challenge to find things that hold their interest.

Humans Are Bad at Security/Did They Think I was Human?

October 29, 2018 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

CBR10 Bingo – Exist Strategy, This is the End I fell in love with Murderbot in the very first paragraph of All Systems Red. I loved the first two novellas without reservation. The third novella, Rogue Protocol, was more of a challenge, and then Exit Strategy wrapped the series up nicely and left room for more Murderbot. I would really like more Murderbot. Perhaps some Murderbot and ART adventures. Murderbot and I both had a harder time with Rogue Protocol because of the human form robot Miki. Miki is the Barney […]
