I love to read and would love to be able to talk about the books I read with a lovely community. I read almost anything and really struggle to talk about the books I love the most for some reason.

Not Quite Golden

The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna

February 6, 2022 by Claudia Leave a Comment

Ok this one is tough because I am not entirely sure what happened here. There is a lot of caps and exclamation marks and questions in this review. I guess I had some feelings. First, I think an audiobook might have been a mistake because there are points where I am honestly confused about what happened. Yes, I was cleaning while I listened to this but I do that with most audiobooks and am not usually so lost. It felt like multiple plot lines or […]

Sad about not liking this one

The First Sister by Linden Lewis

February 5, 2022 by Claudia Leave a Comment

2.5/5 rounded up. I really wanted to like this one but I mostly did not. Cool world, concepts and even character ideas but the writing didn’t follow through. *Sigh* I got this as a post release ARC from Netgalley (my first! I’m still figuring out how it works and if I actually want to do it). This obviously did not affect what I am about to say lol Full review: I wanted this to work for me so much. This really should be right up […]

Wild Ride

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

February 4, 2022 by Claudia 2 Comments

Y’all this was wild. It felt like getting wine drunk and watching a lifetime movie and you have to yell at the tv. Was it entertaining? Yes. Was it entertaining to me the way I think the creator intended? Ummm…….. So in Ugly Love we have a story in two parts. The first part follows Tate, a woman who moves in with her pilot brother and gets involved in a sexual relationship with the man next door. The man, Myles, tells her he can’t and […]

Snow on a cover makes me emotionally nervous

Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt

February 4, 2022 by Claudia 1 Comment

Orbiting Jupiter This was a short novel, bordering on novella. I don’t know where it was recommended to me but I know that any book with a cover in winter is almost certainly going to be sad so I was at least somewhat prepared. The book is from the perspective of a young boy, Jack, whose family brings in a foster kid, Joseph. Joseph is 14 and was placed in foster care after a violent and drug induced incident with a teacher. Joseph also has […]

Spoiler Alert

They Both Die At the End by Adam Silver

January 22, 2022 by Claudia 2 Comments

This book has such an intriguing concept but, in my opinion, falls totally flat in execution. I feel like its important to note that I am a BOOK CRIER. I cried at almost every book I’ve read this year. I cry at commercials where like grandpas learn English to talk to their new grandkids or any lesbians get married or literally anything with a dog. I am SO EASILY manipulated into crying. I did not cry at this book where our two main characters DIE. […]

Too Close to Home

Too Bright To Hear Too Loud To See by Juliann Garey

January 19, 2022 by Claudia 2 Comments

I always struggle with even rating books that are made more for being sad and discussing something difficult. Since I view reading as a form of entertainment its hard to rate pain as a kind of enjoyment. Juliann Garey takes us into the life and mind of Greyson Todd, a Hollywood studio exec with a wife and daughter whose life seems perfect except for the fact that Greyson has Bipolar 1 disorder. I went into this book completely blind, not knowing what it was about […]
