Sweep of the Heart by Ilona Andrews

Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

Sweep of the Heart (5 stars)- This was freaking fantastic. Dina and Sean definitely show us what two innkeepers can do when everything they have is on the line. I can’t wait for the next book! “Sweep of the Heart” follows the awesome events in the last book and novella. Dina and Sean have hit a nice rhythm until things take a turn and one of Sean’s werewolves friends gets kidnapped. The kidnappers have dropped him on a planet with a portal that will be […]

A Point in Time Series Review

Naomi's Gift by Martha Hall Kelly

Ash Wednesday by Paula McLain

Landing by Olivia Hawker

We are Bone and Earth by Esi Edugyan

A Wild Rose by Fiona Davis

Alison's Conviction by Thomas Keneally

Mother Swamp by Jesmyn Ward

Per usual, here are my reviews for each short story in the collection. Overall, this collection at times moved me and made me do more research on certain events brought up which is why my reading this week was slow (for me). Naomi’s Gift by Martha Hall Kelly (5 stars)-Phenomenal. You can figure out where Kelly is taking you, but I honestly was shocked at the the whole Holocaust camp for women/mothers/children. I keep thinking that there is nothing that could shock me at that […]

Just Like Home

Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey

December 3, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Wow. This was really good. I didn’t know where the book was going at all, but I had fun just hanging on for the ride. I wonder how do other readers think this book is going to end? I have some thoughts noodling around in my head. “Just Like Home” follows 30 something year old Vera Crowder. Vera has been gone from her family home for 15 years. Something drove her away. But now that her mother Daphne is dying, Vera is home to take […]

Bury Me Deep

Bury Me Deep by Christopher Pike

December 3, 2022 by Classic 2 Comments

I am going to boo the heck out of the cover of the newest release, I loved the older version of the cover I had when I was a teen. I really did love this book ridiculously as a teenager, and I still enjoyed it. Pike really did just go all out with murder and really grown up topics. I thought this one did a great job with the horror and fantasy elements. “Bury Me Deep” follows Jean who is off to Hawaii to join […]

Into Shadow Series Review

The Garden by Tomi Adeyemi

Persephone by Lev Grossman

The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow

Undercover by Tamsyn Muir

What the Dead Know by Nghi Vo

The Candles Are Burning by Veronica G. Henry

Out of the Mirror, Darkness by Garth Nix

December 3, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Wow. I really wish this series of short stories had been released around Halloween, some of the stories are very good and the horror/fantasy elements are great. There are at least two stories I wish had been longer novels (The Six Deaths of the Saint and Undercover) because of how good they were and how much I didn’t want the stories to be over when I got to the end. “The Garden” by Tomi Adeyemi (2 stars)-This one compared to the other books in the […]

Many Waters

Many Waters by Madeline L'Engle

December 3, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

I am realizing that not many readers of the “Time Quintet” read book #4 of the series. I am also now realizing that my mom skipped this book when she got me the series when I was a pre-teen. I loved this series and had no clue til I got older there was a story about the fabulous twins I had a crush on, Sandy and Dennys. I didn’t understand why this book was so controversial, til of course I read it. “Many Waters” is […]
