The Return Journeys (The Road Trip, #1.5)

The Return Journeys (The Road Trip, #1.5) by Beth O'Leary

December 29, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Wow. Only 10 pages long, but this actually made me like Marcus. Who knew. Seriously though, this was funny. If you haven’t read “The Road Trip” you won’t get this at all, but this takes place after the wedding. A great way to follow up with Addie and Dylan. I seriously wanted to read more when I was done with this. The main reason why I didn’t give this one 5 stars, is it just feels like a very abrupt ending. Think another chapter with […]

Tiffy and Leon’s Christmas Letters (The Flatshare, #1.5)

Tiffy and Leon's Christmas Letters (The Flatshare, #1.5) by Beth O'Leary

December 29, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Great letters showing us Tiffy and Leon after they get together. It really does bring me back to “The Flatshare” and how much I loved that first book. I also loved the little nods we get about Richie and someone “you know who” that he ends up sleeping with. I really wish that we had gotten more extras, but cannot be greedy.

A House With Good Bones

A House With Good Bones by T. Kingfisher

December 28, 2022 by Classic 2 Comments

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not effect my rating or review.  The main thing I will say is that this novella reads really similar to T. Kingfisher’s “The Twisted Ones.” At one point I wondered if I had accidentally started re-reading it. But even though it hits some of the same elements (terrible grandmother) it has some different ones (main character is a bug doctor). The novella jumps around a lot I thought. Things didn’t really gel for me […]

Getting in the last of my 2022 Reviews!

Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardous

The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager

The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

December 28, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Girls Made of Snow and Glass (3 stars)-Not bad, but I started to get bored halfway through the book. Liked both characters points of views (Mina and Lynet), but I started wanting the story to go faster. I liked the idea of these two characters really wanting the other to be more (Lynet wanting Mina to be her mother and Mina wanting to be Lynet’s mother) and them being pulled apart by terrible men. But, after you keep reading, the book falls apart. I think […]

Good lord. This was agonizing. I started this book for Halloween Book Bingo and it is now December people. This past week has been me cleaning up library borrows that I keep re-requesting but never want to finish. This had an interesting premise that quickly went to [redacted] and I got tired of reading it. The characters started off interesting, and then as a friend of mine said, they slid real quick into paper-thin caricatures. This was in the end, just a really bad horror […]

Drunk On Love

Drunk On Love by Jasmine Guillory

December 20, 2022 by Classic 2 Comments

Bored to tears. The last few Guillory books didn’t do a thing for me and this one was the same. I thought the first two of her books were great and now they just feel lacking to me. This one I didn’t care about the heroine (Margot) and the hero (Luke). This was insta-lust, forbidden love (she’s Luke’s boss, or one of them), but also I guess work colleagues. I don’t know, I think when Guillory was at least making her romance novels fit some […]
