Perfectly fine, but not for me

A little spoilier and crankier than I planned
I’m not sure what I thought of this one. It was a quick read, and a decent mystery, and I (mostly) liked the main character. I’ve read two previous Octavia Butler books, and I didn’t like either of them, so I wasn’t too excited about starting the next #CannonBookClub book. But oh, happy day! Now I get it. Decent beginning + cool idea still manages to = meh
I don’t think I can recommend this one. The concept was interesting, the beginning was good, and the climax was well done. But the middle and the very end dragged it down too much.
