The problem with Vero’s advice not to go looking for chin hairs where there aren’t any is that there’s always a seven foot long chin hair to be found. She’s so young, she’ll learn mwuhahahaha… Also don’t go borrowing trouble is pretty good advice.

But trouble is what Finlay Donovan is best at! In this book though, the focus is on intrepid nanny Vero Ruiz. This is the sixth book in the series so it’s not really an ideal place to jump in. But it also takes place on Vero’s turf instead of Finlay’s so it’s not the worst place either. Some past characters are briefly mentioned and could be confusing but only a little. I do recommend starting from the beginning because the whole series is quite enjoyable but if you don’t it’s not the end of the world.
Back to Vero! At the end of the last book we saw Vero forced to head back to Maryland to finally face the consequences of the missing sorority money, a crime she has steadfastly claimed to be innocent of. If she fails to produce an alternate suspect or the money itself Vero could be doing some serious jail time. Finlay can’t let her best friend face this alone and so takes a little road trip to help flush out the true criminal. A little ankle monitor can’t hold this dynamic duo back!
For those who have been reading this series, it’s nice to finally find out a little more about Vero. The mystery here is maybe not as crazy as their past shenanigans, but I thought it was satisfying and realistic. After all we’re dealing with a suburban neighborhood and sorority girls, not the Russian mafia. It was also nice to see Finlay come to Vero’s rescue for a change. Their friendship is the glue holding this wacky found family together.
