Ask Me About Polyamory: The Best of Kimchi Cuddles by by Tikva Wolf, forward by Sophie Labelle
If one is curious about polyamory but wants something easier than a full on text, then this might be the one you need. You will take away from it what you put into it. My personal take was that some things helped me understand the subject, other things I felt made things even more confusing, sometimes I thought she was preaching to the converted, and some comics I felt were the “party line” answer that made things seem to be just BS. Or in other words, I thought, I explored, I had questions, I had answers, I had more questions and I came away with something I didn’t have before.
However, though monogamous people can read to learn, I think the best audience are adults who are in polyamours relationships. Still, anyone will see that relationships are relationships and there are funny and not so funny moments; there are times when our jealousy gets the best of us and sometimes we don’t practice what we preach. There is a map of who is with whom and names, but that was confusing for me….. Lots of lines and lots of in and outs! Also included are a few terms you might find in the community such as cowboys and cowgirls, names of different types of relationship dynamics and how to balance children/family and your non-biological partners. The section I was curious about was how Ace fits in (they are asexual) and now want to know about them. This is because I know little on the subject, am curious how they fit in as a partner and since one of the characters (who just happens to be a trans woman) has one of the most honest reactions to him.
Overall, things are simpler, but not simple or simplistic. The cover gives you the style of the artwork so it is also in a simple format, but very colorful when needed. You can find more Kimchi Cuddles online, but I am unsure how up to date they are.
I am adding this line not to tell you about the book, but so I had a way to put this last image in that I liked. I just wish I could find the image I took of the one that I really love as it made sense of some personal emotions had.
