I had the opportunity to have The Christmas Snow Globe by Sibylle Delacroix “read” to me via a YouTube video. However, I have read it before (both times I am assuming via an online reader). Both times I felt the story was sweet, funny and cute. However, the adult me isn’t a fan of sledding down the stairs! The kid me wonders where can I find a sled?
It is hard to talk about it, unless I tell you the story. Two children are waiting for a white Christmas, but it is Christmas Eve and there isn’t a snowflake in sight. They are allowed to open one gift, a snow globe with a house inside that looks like theirs, only, as the daughter says, “It has snow.” But of course, it is Christmas and miracles can happen.
The whimsical artwork is cozy, with a bit of a warm coco feeling. There is little color, but what is there is important and highlights the story. You could say it is a bit romantic, or dreamy, but also it is a swishy solidness. Everything just works out in the end, storywise and with the images. It is a nice book. It might be something you read on Christmas Eve to have a slightly different story than the usual read, like The Night Before Christmas, Polar Express or some good old fashion Dickens. It is not religious or Santa based so it can fit all areas. And if you do not have snow for Christmas, it is a nice story to see how the “other half” lives
.
