If you’re looking for a cozy-ish read about women learning how to live for themselves and get revenge, this is it.
We meet each of our three main characters fairly early in the book, but it’s basically Nora’s story. Her husband has just left her for a wellness retreat in Chile to “find himself”. Nora tries to convince herself for a lot of the book that her marriage is fine, and she’s just helping out her new friends with their failing marriages. She reconnects with an old high school friend named Daisy, whose husband is having an affair with a younger woman. Finally they both meet up with an old high school friend named Soraya who is staunchly religious. The women are all figuring out what to do with their lives and their marriages throughout the book.
They stumble into a new apothecary shop in their town and slowly start tapping into their own magic and powers. They try to get even with their exes, which they feel badly about (but I loved). And then they try to use their newfound magic to help others. I really liked this book and it felt very powerful for women. Five stars.
