I really enjoyed Bats at the Beach by Brian Lies. Therefore, every so often I pick up one of their new books (or read again an older one). This summer, we will add Little Bat Up All Day to the line up of batty good times.
This time we have Little Bat on a new adventure. Curious about what the animals do during the daytime, Little Bat decides to stay up all day. At first, things are confusing and scary. After all Little Bat is a bat and they are supposed to be down when the sun is up. But when they meet a new squirrel friend, many adventures occur. But can Little Bat stay awake?
We the adult reader will know that no, our little bat falls asleep. And this makes both our new friends sad. And we the adult reader know that they will find a way to be both themselves and stay friends. Children readers will enjoy the mystery of how they will solve this dilemma.
The artwork is pure Lies, and you know it when you see it. Colors are everywhere. Details around every corner and everything has a happy, upbeat quality to it (even when Little Bat is sad or is a little more than a little tired-cranky).
Due mid-July 2022, this will be the perfect addition to your collection of books. Be it books about Little Bat and friends, Brain Lies, or animal books. And while it might be hard for a group setting read-aloud as it is a bit on the longer side, it is a fun read one-on-on.
