Do not wear your face shield when trying read a book that this poetic, and has romantic pink, greens, orange, gold, and red colors in swirly illustrations. Especially when the shield is a bit on the damaged side and already makes things a little fuzzy. The above mentioned swirly got to almost nauseous causing levels. However, do read this book, The Tree in Me (with all the good above) in your comfy reading spot, snuggled up to a kiddo or two that will sit and listen to a nature inspired poetic prose picture book.
The text and illustrations show how nature is explored and the emotions it creates through the creativeness of a child’s eyes. Corinna Luyken created a picture book that works great for the art enthusiast as the book’s pages are art. I would frame them in a heartbeat. I have seen other works by Luyken but did not enjoy them as much as I did with this book. It also works for the poet, the child who does not relate to traditional art and even an adult.
All ages can listen to the book, read it themselves, and all can enjoy. The simple text will allow an early to mid-level reader to start solo reading, or (as above mentioned) it can be a read aloud and, of course, it can be a comfort book to the adult reader. It is a personal book that you need to know before you can find it a special place in a special home.
