It Started With A Tweet by Anna Bell

Tweeting

December 27, 2017 by J Leave a Comment

Daisy is a dedicated marketing manager with a specialty in social media that carries over into her personal life. To wit, girlfriend is one of those Instagram every meal and beverage with no fewer than three hashtag millennials everyone complains about. She sends a funny, if risqué, tweet that is posted to a client’s account by mistake. Daisy’s sister takes advantage of Daisy’s resulting unemployment to suggest a digital detox/housework holiday fixing up a property in rural England where it will be nearly impossible to […]

Husbands and Heartache

June 21, 2017 by Mikki Blu 2 Comments

“Seven husbands. Which one did she love best? Which one was the real one?” This book had me turning the pages pretty quickly to find out what would happen next, and I read nearly all of it in one day.  It tells the tale of  Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo, who escaped the humble beginnings in Hell’s Kitchen to live out her dream of becoming an actress in Hollywood.  Born Evelyn Herrara, of Cuban descent, she is a blend of Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth […]

Faux Big Chill

February 17, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

I dithered about this book for a while. There was something bugging me about it and then I realized. I pretty much called every single one of the endings for the characters. I didn’t really like the character (Lindy) who was bisexual being portrayed as “slutty” and the poor girl/woman (Annie) who sat around harboring same lame crush on a guy (Colin) that didn’t want her. I was more interested in the married couple (Catherine and Owen) but even after a while I tired of […]

Where Classic Gets Bitter

February 13, 2017 by Classic 2 Comments

I didn’t want to be too hard on this book, but sorry it worked my ever loving nerves. What started off as typical chick-lit turned into some hey we are all just the same Kumbaya circle thing that I just got tired of reading. The main character, Katie Brenner, should know enough at her age that no one’s life is perfect. I can’t get over she thought because people were rich that yes they must be happy and be just dancing in the fields singing. […]

I may not judge a book by its cover, but I apparently judge it by a lot of other things

June 15, 2016 by NTE 1 Comment

A lot of times, when I’m scrolling through the books that NetGalley has chosen to send me, I end up passing by titles that, like this review’s book, have “:A Novel” as part of their title.  Having too numerously been burned by capital N ‘Novels:’ books that tend to take themselves far more seriously than they deserve as they retread familiar ground in the least novel of ways, & spout trope after trope and leaving me growly and unsatisfied, has obviously imparted some bias.  I […]
