I might pick on the frogs in this review but there is an elephant too

It's Tough to Be Tiny by Kim Woolcock

June 28, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

What if I told you that being small was not as bad as it might seem? In fact, it can be cool. Oh sure, we vertically challenged people might not be able to reach the average height shelf in the store and have to smile nicely to the tall gentleman for assistance, but if you were some of the animals in It’s Tough to Be Tiny you would be the cat’s meow, bees’ knees and frog of the bog! Kim Woolcock writes about the tiny […]

These Spiders Are Not Deserving of Your Mortein – but Your Love

Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Do you like spiders? I like spiders. I don’t believe spiders deserve the bad rap they get. If this was a zombie book, I’d have already gotten the sequel, Skitter (which came out in May). But this isn’t a zombie book. Which isn’t, of course, to say that this book isn’t fun – it is. Nor is it to say that you shouldn’t read this if you’re into post-apocalyptic horror stories – you should. But […]

I want to go back and read this again for the first time.

So, I think I found a new favorite writer. The kind of writer that necessitates my active engagement whenever a new book is published. I mean, look, this book didn’t fundamentally rewire my brain. I’m not re-invigorated, or inspired to change my life. This isn’t like when I read Moby Dick last year. But this book was good. And John Dies at the End was just the right blend of chaotically eccentric and delightfully whimsical. And Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits was charming, and fun, […]
