And Then There Was You by Sophie Cousens

And Then There Was You by Sophie Cousens

I really don’t know what to say. Cousens let’s you know the inspiration behind this book when she is done and she lets you know she struggled with this (yeah I can tell) and she’s trying to have it both ways. This just had too many science fiction elements that were not well thought out and the actual romance between Chloe and someone else took too long to build. I honestly do think some parts of the book did work (when Chloe finally realizes and […]

Is She Really Going Out with Him? by Sophie Cousens

May 28, 2025 by Halbs 5 Comments

Every year, my spouse and I pick a few books for the other person to read. It’s a fun way to expand our literary horizons and connect in a new way. Some of my favorite annual reads come from this exchange. This year, for example, Leigh Bardugo’s Ninth House was suggested to me. I’ve read thirty-odd books this year, but Ninth House is still my favorite. Sophie Cousens’ Is She Really Going Out with Him? was also given to me to read. While it’s not […]

Is She Really Going Out with Him? by Sophie Cousens

Not bad. I just felt really bored throughout. And I didn’t find the romance between Anna and Will believable due to a total lack of chemistry. I have loved Cousens other books, but this one just didn’t do enough for me. I think the bigger issue is that the lead, Anna, is older than Will, and she keeps acting like someone who is not the age she is. She has two kids, a messy ex-husband, and I just didn’t gibe that with her obsessing about […]

Before I Do

Before I Do by Sophie Cousens

September 2, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. So funny enough I could have used this for a Cannonball 14 bingo because of the constant discussion of stars, who knew. But seriously though. This is the third book by Cousens I have read and they just keep getting better. Potential romance readers may be worried about the plot of this one and if this will work for them, but I promise you it will. It was […]

Just Haven’t Met You Yet

Just Haven't Met You Yet by Sophie Cousens

January 24, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

This was a great romance read. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars though was that I thought at times Laura was being a bit of a lunatic. Her deciding that the man of her dreams was out there based on the contents of his suitcase had me going on geez. But the fact that the character of Ted is included pretty much as the reader surrogate to make fun of her about it helped the book in my opinion. I also […]
