Banning books is downright dangerous

This Book Is Banned by Raj Haldar

July 3, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

You cannot read this book. I am not sure how I read this book. After all, it is banned. Why? Not because of meanines that hurt things or blow things up or even because it says a bad word. Nope. But because there are giraffes. And dinosaurs. Even avocados. The NERVE of some people! Yes, This Book Is Banned is hyperbole (except for the dinosaurs, the reason some people ban dinosaurs is that they do not think they were real). However, the idea behind it is not. […]

Don’t overlook this book

No Reading Allowed: The Worst Read-Aloud Book Ever by Raj Haldar

February 3, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Raj Haldar and Chris Carpenter, (adding Bryce Gladfelter) came back together in 2020 to make another LOL read. And though it might not be as easy to read, or fun, as P Is for Pterodactyl: The Worst Alphabet Book Ever (to me at least), No Reading Allowed: The Worst Read-Aloud Book Ever has plenty of chuckles and is good. I think the main issue is that there are homonyms and sound-alikes, but you need to know the meaning of some words to make the joke […]

The Best Alphabet Book

P is For Pterodactyl by Raj Haldar & Chris Carpenter

May 11, 2020 by Tracy Leave a Comment

I don’t recall how I first heard of this book, but I bought it for myself just for kicks, and it’s a hoot. This is a children’s book, but only after your kids know the alphabet pretty well, or it will confuse them. The authors find words that don’t sound like they start with the letters they actually start with, like pterodactyl, knight, gnat, etc. There’s even a word that starts with a silent B, which I had no idea existed. It’s for bdellium (a […]

This is the worst alphabet book but an awesomely cool idea!

September 6, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

This is not your mothers alphabet book! This is not for a young child just learning their alphabet. This alphabet book could be given to an adult. I could also see this used in classes as low as second grade but upwards to junior high due to the items mentioned. It would be a great gift for someone who collects alphabet books. Now why this book is so fantastic. P Is for Pterodactyl: The Worst Alphabet Ever by Raj Haldar and Chris Carpenter (illustrated by […]
