Mindy Kaling did it better.

Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon

June 22, 2026 by carmelpie Leave a Comment

I’ve given this boy the messiest parts of me, and he’s done nothing but convince me he’ll be careful with them. ― Rachel Lynn Solomon, Today Tonight Tomorrow This immediately reminded me of the show Never Have I Ever and the story of the eventual-enemies-to-lovers romance between two overachievers locked in a perceived battle to the death. Rowan hates her nemesis, Neil McNair, “McNightmare.” He thwarts her at every turn. They fought endlessly at every opportunity through middle school and high school. At one point, […]

What Happens in Amsterdam by Rachel Lynn Solomon

I have been on a run this year with marriage of convenience romance novels. By my count, Rachel Lynn Solomon’s What Happens in Amsterdam is my fourth of the year, following Two Friends in Marriage, In a Jam, and In a Rush. I read In a Jam on vacation in Amsterdam which is part of the reason why I decided to read What Happens in Amsterdam, the other being two very enthusiastic reviews of it from people I trust on Goodreads – one of which shouted out the quality of the audiobook (she was right – its great).   It was nice to read this […]

A first rate second chance romance. Plot: Dani is a late bloomer. Dealing with severe health issues as a kid has left her parents overprotective and her world was narrowed to meeting her physical needs, but others’ emotional needs. Still, after a bad breakup and a job loss, she finds herself taking on an opportunity to work for a start up in Amsterdam, an ocean away from her loving but controlling parents. Unfortunately, her cloistered childhood has left her without some necessary real world skills, […]

The Ex-Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

August 11, 2024 by Malin 3 Comments

4.5 stars Smart Bitches Summer Bingo: Pets (Steve Rogers Goldstein plays a fairly major role in the book) CBR16 Bingo: Dreams (Shay has dreamed about having her own show on public radio for over a decade) Shay Goldstein grew up loving radio. She and her now deceased father would listen to radio together and even have their own pretend radio shows, so she is very grateful for her job as a producer at a Seattle public radio station, and is very happy with what she […]

Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon

March 30, 2024 by Nart Leave a Comment

Plot: Chandler is a journalist moonlighting as a ghost writer for D list celebrities trying to cling to relevance and not even making enough money to afford a place to rent at market value, instead crashing at her cousin’s house. So here she is, at maybe not rock bottom but feeling pretty lousy and this guy who is nice and funny and clever and good looking appears out of nowhere for a night of fun. Only two problems: one, he’s leaving the next day, and […]

This sounds amazing. I saw some discussion today about contemporary monster romance being the descendant of fairy tales.
