In Saga: Volume 3, everybody’s heading for the planet Quietus. If you’re wondering why that should be worrisome, google “Quietus” and see what comes up. Yeah. It’s that kind of story. Some stuff this book is concerned with: How to make a life for your family while on the run from two governments. Finding love after a loss. Relatedly, getting over a break-up in rather extreme ways. Violence only begetting more violence. The real threat of Marko and Alana is not that they betrayed their […]
Marko <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
This is a love story. This is a story about fathers and sons. This is a story about families. This is a story about war and peace. This is a story about tree spaceships and magic aliens and talking cats. Volume 1 of Saga introduced us to all the characters: Marko and Alana and their newborn child, who are being hunted as traitors and miscegenators across the universe by both sides of a never-ending galactic war; killer for hire The Will and his truth-telling cat; […]
Hi, I love you.
omg omg omg omg omg omg OMG WHAT DID I JUST READ. It’s like somebody reached into my subconscious, pulled out a bunch of things I think are awesome, then added some really weird and unexpected stuff on top of that, and finally topped it all off by illustrating the whole thing with beautiful, wildly colorful pictures. Like, everyone ever has said that Saga is awesome, but you really don’t have a feel for what that means until you actually read it for yourself. I’ve […]
Not for the faint of heart. (Understatement.)
Emotionally, my impulse is to give this novel three or three and a half stars, but it was so well written and interesting to think about on a more intellectual level that I just have to up it to four stars. Tampa is definitely not a book for the faint of heart, nor is it for literature Puritans who insist on sanitizing away the nastier bits of human existence from the written word, as if that will make them stop existing. Nor is it for […]
Maybe if I’d read it as a kid?
This book is so easy and fast to read but it took me FOREVER to actually read it. I kept picking it up, reading twenty pages, and then putting it down in favor of something else. Nita is our main character. She’s a twelve year old girl living in New York. She’s a bit nerdy (her favorite possession is a space pen her uncle gave to her that can write on anything) and she’s having trouble with a bully in her class at school. When […]
Silly but fun.
Okay, someone do me a favor and come slap me if I decide to download another romance novel audiobook any time other than a weekend where I preferably can do nothing but sit like a lump while listening to it for however long it takes to finish it. Because this is twice now where I’ve downloaded one (both of them Tessa Dares) and my need to listen to them has gotten in the way of things I should be doing. There’s just something about a […]
