A murder podcast is nothing new – unless it helps the murderer target you!

Girl Forgotten by April Henry

October 30, 2023 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ooh this one was cool.  A teenage girl starts a true crime podcast, which is super of the moment. There are more true crime podcasts than one human can keep up with these days. Hers is part of her high school senior year project though, which makes it a little more interesting in the grand scheme of things. She starts out the book walking through a cemetery (I can’t remember why?) and comes across a grave. Ooh and she’s in a new town because something […]

Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI series

Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI #3 Shadow of Death by Heather Graham

Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI #1 Danger in Numbers by Heather Graham

Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI #2 Crimson Summer by Heather Graham

I guess I’m back to my old tricks of starting a series at book number three! I don’t know how I do it, but I have a knack for starting at three. Not two, not four, but three. There are many times through the history of my CBRs where I started a series at three. I usually go back and start from one after finishing the third book though! Since this is book three, the duo of Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agent Amy […]

This title totally drew me in!

Ernest Cunningham #1 Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson

October 27, 2023 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

I don’t know how I came across this book, but I really liked it. I listened to the audiobook, which was really fun. We first meet the narrator Ernest, but everyone calls him Ern or Ernie. This immediately endears him to me because I used to have a crazy, mostly deaf dog named Ernie. You can look back at reviews from years ago to see him! Everyone in Ernie’s family (including himself) has killed someone. Sometimes it was an accident, sometimes it wasn’t. Sometimes it […]

The Crime of the Century: Richard Speck and the Murders That Shocked a Nation by Dennis L. Breo , William J. Martin

October 8, 2023 by Pooja Leave a Comment

On a hot summer night in 1966, unemployed seaman Richard Speck broke into a Chicago townhouse and murdered eight nurses who lived there – but a ninth, Corazon Amurao, survived to testify against him. I’ve known about the Speck case for several years, and it’s really quite a horrific yet bizarre story that made a great impact on the judicial system in Illinois. I was excited to get into a book that would cover it in depth, but I found myself startled and pleased with […]

Bitter Blood: A True Story of Southern Family Pride, Madness, and Multiple Murder by Jerry Bledsoe

September 11, 2023 by Pooja Leave a Comment

CBR 15 Bingo – Edibles: Fritz, Susie and her sons are on mind-boggling amounts of vitamin pills, which they are observed taking by the handful to the bemusement and horror of their friends and family. No one can think of a reason why anyone would kill Delores and Janie Lynch in such a cold-blooded manner. But when their in-laws are murdered barely a year later, the police suspect that the motive for the deaths might be found among the ranks of the family. Bitter Blood is one […]

Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann

August 9, 2023 by LittlePlat Leave a Comment

Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI was utterly infuriating. I read it in anticipation of the movie that’s set to be released in a few months, and I knew it wasn’t going to be a terribly happy story. But I felt myself getting worked up about it none the less.  The Osage once possessed a territory that covered much of modern-day Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. But encroaching expansion from the US government lead to the Osage being mostly displaced […]
