Stuck or unstuck in time

Slaughterhouse-Five, or the Children's Crusade: The Graphic Novel by Kurt Vonnegut Jr and Ryan North

August 21, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

WTH did I read? I admit, a lot of the graphic novel Slaughterhouse-Five, or the Children’s Crusade, went over my head. But that just means I need to read it again as this is not something  that can be taken in all at once. The artwork is what really grabbed me this first reading. There was a lot going on, but it did not always feel “fleshed out” and there were things missing, yet, there was also too much going on as well. The lack […]

Another short story to fill the void between the super long ones!!

2BR02B by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

I think I saw Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and remembered back to high school where I read Fahrenheit 451 (not KVJr), Catcher in the Rye (not KVJr), and some other book that wasn’t written by him.  I guess I just got them all mixed up in my head, so don’t yell at me.  I’m not sure I’ve ever read a Kurt Vonnegut Jr. book now that I’m looking back? Anybody have any recommendations?  Obviously I read this book, but it’s a short story, so a bit […]

Bluebeard – 5/5 Stars It’s funny to me that I read this alongside all the other Kur Vonnegut novels I read when I was younger. I was either in high school or thereabouts for this one. I remember liking it, and not really knowing what to do with it. Like the kids that Rabo Karabekian yells at throughout this novel, what did I know about anything then? And like Rabo, I am sure I still have more to learn. You might recall Rabo Karabekian from […]

Scum of the Earth as some may be in their daily lives, they can all be saints in emergencies.

CBR10Bingo – Throwback Thursday (whoa it’s Thursday!) I think this was the last unread Kurt Vonnegut novel I read, when I read it about 15 years ago. It came out shortly before I first started reading Vonnegut when I was 14 or 15 and so it marked the first and last exposure to him as a living writer. I didn’t read for several years after. Also, along with Slaughterhouse 5, which I have read a half dozen times or so, this is the only Vonnegut […]
