Good Luck With That by Kristan Higgins

December 10, 2019 by octothorp Leave a Comment

My dad once told me of a movie he started watching about a WWII veteran presumed dead coming back into town to find his wife about to marry another man; the wife was beside herself and bemoaned her situation to her best friend “I know you always had a crush on (dead soldier), but surely you understand my impossible position,” whereupon my father turned off the TV as that one sentence rendered the rest of the movie irrelevant. I picked up this book, about two […]

Maybe Courtney Milan has spoiled me and my expectations are too high

October 7, 2017 by katie71483 5 Comments

As is so often the case with the books I review, this read began with a message from Patty: “I’m reading this book. It’s gotten off to a really good start and is quite funny in parts.” Of course I immediately check it out and purchase from Amazon. It’s what I do. A divorce attorney, her ex-husband and a cute dog go on a road trip

September 10, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

While others may describe divorce attorney Harper James as somewhat bitter, cynical and decidedly unromantic, she herself claims that she is realistic and practical and her job allows her to help her clients, usually in miserable relationships have the best possible lives after their divorces. Her mother packed up and left Harper and her father on Harper’s thirteenth birthday, and Harper’s own marriage didn’t even last six months, but she doesn’t really feel that those things in any way influenced the woman she is today. […]

Better than listening to NPR report on the presidential race for the 84 billionth time

August 25, 2016 by Lynn Leave a Comment

I have a pretty long commute, and I spend a lot of time in the car. There’s only so much NPR I can handle during election season, and listening to audio books appears to keep the road rage to a minimum. But I need them to be light and fluffy romance novels, or else I can’t also concentrate on driving. I live in Florida, home of the alligators, the snowbirds, and the worst drivers known to man, so I’ve got to pay attention. So some […]
