A cool collaboration of thriller writers and characters

Face Off by David Baldacci

April 26, 2022 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is the second collaboration audiobook I’ve borrowed and read from my library.  I got into it because of my buddy Michael Connelly.  If you read my previous review that I just posted, you’ll know that maybe he’s not my buddy after all, but Harry Bosch is.  Conveniently, Harry is in this book! The wording on Goodreads calls this “an unprecedented collaboration”, which sounds very grand.  I didn’t really get it until I looked at all the authors involved and listened to the intro.  Apparently […]

The Investigator

The Investigator by John Sandford

January 31, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Well I DNFed this at 35 percent. I could not force myself to keep reading this one. I don’t know how a new series starring Letty Davenport was so boring and also repetitive in equal measure, but it was. Letty has never been my favorite (see prior reviews of Lucas Davenport series) and this book didn’t make me want to get to know the character more. Sandford really […]

Clearing the Cache

Coma by Robin Cook

Rules of Prey by John Sandford

Twilight of the Democracies by Anne Applebaum

September 29, 2021 by vel veeter Leave a Comment

Coma – 2/5 Stars I wasn’t alive when this book or the first of the tv movies came out, but Robin Cook also wrote a book called Outbreak, which shares a lot of parallels with the Richard Preston book The Hot Zone and the movie. I also distinctly remember seeing ads for an early 1990s mini-series based on another of his books. If you’ve read The Firm, you might have felt a similar kind of disappointment in finding out the ultimate resolution of the mystery […]

Behind the Scenes Look at a Presidential Election via Prey

Extreme Prey by John Sandford

November 22, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I think that this was one of the strongest offerings in the Prey series. I still could not give it five stars though since there seems to be some ridiculousness with Lucas and his next job I think will get discussed further in the next book. At this point, they should have just retired Lucas and switched to someone else to focus on in this series. How he is running around in his late 50s, I think is a question. I did like the different […]

A Look at Travelers

Gathering Prey by John Sandford

November 5, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

So this is the 25th Lucas Davenport book I have read and it seems that we will see Davenport pursue something different. He once again is dealing with depression, but being asked to help find a young man that his daughter Letty met is enough to push that back for the time being. When it appears that Letty’s friends may have come across a brutal group murdering Travelers, Lucas and others do what’s necessary to take down the group. “Gathering Prey” follows Lucas as he […]

Solid Entry in Prey Series

Field of Prey by John Sandford

October 4, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I thought that Sandford did a good job with this one. It’s a solid book. The main reason why I gave this four stars though is that I felt like once again there is too much Letty in this. And I have to wonder about her being at a murder scene and telling the cops how someone must have gotten shot. I still find this character less than useless, but at least Sandford has her shipped off to college by the end of this one […]
