Panzer Vor!: Part 2

May 5, 2015 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

The second installment of the Girls und Panzer graphic novels picks up where the first left off, mid-contest. Having encountered some difficulty the girls from Ooarai Academy’s begin “Operation More Sneak Around” against St. Gloriana Women’s Academy during their first tankery team practice match. The match ends with a close call defeat for our heroes. The disappointment is of course cut short by the appearance of the St Gloriana captain, Darjeeling whose conversation with Miho and gift of tea (apparently this means that Darjeeling views […]

Gyros for heros

April 23, 2015 by Emmalita 5 Comments

This was just what I needed after A Dirty Job. I quickly zipped through volumes 1 and 2 of the new Ms. Marvel series and loved EVERY. SINGLE. FRAME. The most important thing you should take from this review is that you should go buy Ms. Marvel comics, and maybe a costume, too. Lets give Kamala Khan all our money and hope Marvel keeps her and keeps her awesome. Kamala Khan, our new Ms. Marvel, is a 16 yr old muslim, Pakistani American girl who […]

Pretty Confusing, Vol. 1: . . . uh, what?

April 15, 2015 by narfna 2 Comments

So I had to sit on on this one for a while before even committing to a star rating, and even now I’m still not sure about it. I mostly only chose three because it seemed like the most neutral option. This book is hard to think about, hard to digest, and hard to categorize. Ultimately, that’s probably a good thing. Confusing and hard to categorize generally at least means ‘original.’ And Pretty Deadly is certainly original. But it’s also confusing and confounding and hard to […]

[Hyperventilating]

April 9, 2015 by alwaysanswerb 11 Comments

On one hand, I’m so pleased for my Cannonball review to be something I loved; on the other hand, how do I even review Saga Volume 4? It’s insane: suspenseful, heartbreaking, raunchy, funny, touching, and freaking gorgeous. So, what happens in Vol 4, besides everything? Well, Marko and Alanna and family are still on the run from any number of people who want to bring them in for various politically-motivated reasons. While at first the outlaw renegade thing was kind of a turn-on, now it’s […]

Odyssia vs. the Cyclops

March 26, 2015 by KM Bezner Leave a Comment

After a century of war, Odyssia and her warriors have left Troiia in ruins. Despite their victory they have many challenges yet to face, not the least of which is the ire of Zeus and Poseidon. Having dealt with treachery on her own ship and resisted the temptation offered by the Lotus-Eaters, Odyssia is once again on the path home. Ody-C #3 begins with a flashback to the birth of the goddess Apollo. Or is it Dionysus? Continue reading on Women Write About Comics.

If You Could Stop Time, Wouldn’t You Rob a Bank, Too?

March 8, 2015 by AmySaysREAD 1 Comment

In case you’re not aware, Image Comics has a bunch of amazing ish happening over there right now. Of my four reviews so far (including this one), they’ve all been graphic novels, and only one hasn’t been from Image. Those people know what they’re doing; the stories are all great and the art is phenomenal in basically every Image book you pick up. Over in my blog, I’ve reviewed the first volume of Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky’s Sex Criminals, which is about a girl […]
