This book is a fall-back for me. I read it a very long time ago, over and over again. My paperback copy pretty much disintegrated. It had been a long time since my last reading, and I wanted something long so that I could get caught up on my reviews while I was reading. That didn’t work. I read, but didn’t review (hence my short crappy reviews on the last possible day!). Anyway, if you’re reading this (and I hope you’re not – this is […]
Robot Love
The Silver Metal Lover was a great introduction to Tanith Lee for me. This particular month, Vaginal Fantasy focused on a robot theme with authors questioning the power of love with an artificial being. This particular love story is about a young, naive rich girl named Jane. She lives a pretty sheltered life in a beautiful mansion in the sky with her mother. All her friends are jaded and mean, living quite the hedonistic lifestyle on their parents money. One day while walking with her gay friend Clovis, she comes across a […]
Into the supernatural mist of horrors
Harper Blaine isn’t a believer in the supernatural, but after a near death experience she starts to see some strange things. She is referred to a paranormal studies professor for answers. He suggests she may be a grey walker, a human who can see into the supernatural dimension he calls the Grey. He along with his lovely, Irish witch wife offer to help her control her newfound power. Besides seeing ghosts, she can see vampires true self and even fall into this grey dimension. However, it’s proving […]
Honeymoon Trouble
I came across My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon in Strand Books. It’s always nice to pick up an anthology as they tend to be easy reads. As a big fan of The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher, his story “Heorot”about a kidnapped newlywed woman from an beer festival was enough reason to buy. His story brings back Miss Gard, a mysterious supernatural who consults for the kingpin of Chicago. I always liked her, so was fun to see them momentarily join forces and learn a tiny […]
Supernatural Fight Club
Magic Strikes has Kate Daniels working another case involving Atlanta’s shapeshifter community (aka The Pack). She arrives on the scene of a double shapeshifter homicide. She sees her friend and sometime partner, Jim, who abruptly takes her off the case citing Pack business. Essentially, telling her to stay the f*@k out of it. Kate obviously finds this a bit rude, but hey now she gets to go home early. Later that night, she is forced to bail Derek, a werewolf pal, out of a sticky situation with Saiman, a rich […]
A pleasant surprise of a book!
Forty-second book reviewed as part of the 130 Challenge. Oh my god! What a beautiful story! Poignant, sweet and for some reason, makes one nostalgic too. I did not believe that a spiritual allegory like this one could move me so much. But it has: through its simple stories with so much depth, it has made me wonder about life and happiness; some of the most difficult questions that we face. I guess that is how it is, sometimes, the most difficult questions have the […]
