Princess Lessons for a Princess Party and thensome

Cursed Princess Club v.5 by Lamb Cat

May 17, 2026 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

So there’s finally some progress on the question of Gwen’s parents and possible cursed-ness or maybe lack thereof. Jamie is still rather pointless, except to make a minor connection of interest with the Queen of the Plaid Kingdom. The Plaid Princes are sort of backseat, except for Frederick; Frederick and Gwen actually sort of make a little progress, although there might/will be trouble ahead because of course it’s still too early for the fairy tale ending. The Plaid King actually gets a little more character […]

“It is finished. The tale is told truthfully, and truth is no heavier, no more beautiful than lies.”

The True Story of Hansel and Gretel: a novel of war and survival by Louise Murphy

Trigger warnings: child mutilation, graphic murder, dismemberment, torture, grievous and graphic depictions of wounds, profanity, graphic descriptions of nudity (including children), graphic depictions of childbirth, gas chambers, mass cremations, talk of rape in general, rape of a child shown on page. A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher

September 27, 2024 by narfna 2 Comments

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC. It hasn’t affected the contents of my review. Ugh, bad ARC reviewer. I’ve had this book finished since the end of August and I’ve been totally dragging my feet on this review for some reason. And it was a good, fun book! You should read it! T. Kingfisher basically has three types of book at this point: 1) Cozy horror, 2) Fantasy romance, and 3) Fairytale-esque dark(ish) fantasy. This book falls into the third category. It […]

Beautiful Reimagining, blend of myth and romance

The Girl who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh

December 26, 2022 by LB Leave a Comment

The Girl who Fell Beneath the Sea is a book that immediately intrigued me because of the gorgeous cover, and then the synopsis truly dragged me in. Mina lives in a small village by the sea where every year, for the last one hundred years, they’ve sacrificed a bride to the Sea God in the hopes of quelling the storms that have plagued the country since the death of the Emperor. This year the sacrifice is supposed to be Shim Cheong, the beloved of Mina’s […]

Oh no! Empire of Gold would probably not make much sense without the previous two. There's a LOT of context...
