Secret government operatives trying to kill Nora and Corrie? Must be Tuesday.

Diablo Mesa (Nora Kelly #3) by Preston & Child

April 1, 2022 by TylerDFC Leave a Comment

Shortly after the events of The Scorpion’s Tail, archeologist Nora Kelly is approached to lead a dig at the purported UFO crash site in Roswell, New Mexico by driven billionaire Lucas Tappan. Tappan wants to prove once and for all a UFO crashed at Roswell, and not a weather balloon. No sooner does she start work than a pair of dead bodies are found. Not little green men, but a man and a woman shot in the head and dating back to the 1940’s. Nora […]

Second verse, not as good as the first!

The Scorpion's Tail (Nora Kelly #2) by Preston & Child

February 26, 2021 by TylerDFC Leave a Comment

The man’s demise was clearly written in his expression: the mouth open as if screaming, protruding tongue brown and mottled as a dried morel, desiccated lips drawn back from brown teeth in a rictus of pain and horror. – The Scorpion’s Tail Note: This book is the second in a spinoff series connected to the 20+ volume Agent Pendergast novels. No knowledge of either series is needed to enjoy this but the main characters featured in The Scorpion’s Tail, archeologist Nora Kelly, and Special Agent […]

The start of a new creepy series

Relic (Pendergast #1) by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

February 3, 2021 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

The idea of this book is just so fantastical.  There’s a beast killing people in the Museum of Natural History in NYC.  Like come on.  But it totally works (at least for me)!  I read this book because I love Douglas Preston.  He made me scared of bats in the wild and bleeding through my eyes (reasonable fears I think). This is apparently the debut novel for the Pendergast series.  I had no idea it existed, but I’m so glad I found it.  I have […]

Not Enough Egypt for Me in This Preposterous Thriller

The Pharaoh Key by Preston & Child

September 22, 2019 by xoxoxoe Leave a Comment

Whenever I feel the need for some literary comfort food my first instinct is to grab a mystery or crime thriller. I think it’s the combination of thrills with puzzle-solving that appeals to me. The title of this paperback. The Pharaoh Key, jumped out at me because it not only promised a mystery, but it combined another one of my interests, ancient Egypt. I have read some other books by this author team, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, featuring their investigator Agent Prendergast, so I […]

Episode 2-02: 1/16th Choctaw

Ex-Communication by Peter Clines

Verses for the Dead by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child

January 18, 2019 by prisco Leave a Comment

https://killingmykindle.com/2019/01/19/episode-2-02-1-6th-choctaw/ Wherein I read: 4. Ex-Communication (Ex-Heroes #3) by Peter Clines 5. Verses for the Dead (Agent Pendergast #18) by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child As I type this sentence, I wonder why Peter Clines amazing superheroes battling zombies series hasn’t already been optioned and turned into your favorite series yet. As I type THIS sentence, I wonder if Preston & Child got notes from some marketing douche and wrote this book like “Is this what you wanted, you f**kface?”

The confluence of stupidity and evil incarnate

The Monster of Florence by Douglas Preston & Mario Spezi

June 21, 2018 by ingres77 Leave a Comment

Between 1968 and 1985, a series of double murders horrified the province of Florence, Italy. These murders have been laid at the feet of Il Mostro di Firenze, The Monster of Florence. Douglas Preston, author of Relic and other novels with his writing partner Lincoln Child, moved to Florence to write a novel, only to find that one of the aforementioned murders happened across the street from his house. Thus began a years long fascination with the serial killer, and the abandonment of his very purpose for […]
