Escape now. Hug later.
Okay, did you read the hilarious tweet conversation this summer between Chuck Wendig and Sam Sykes? It’s here. I’ll wait while you read it, because it’s a damned delight of an exchange between two writers who love their work and appreciate genre and enjoy happiness. And then there was another one, this fall. It’s here. Again, I’ll wait. Okay. So, the above was the first I had ever heard of either Wendig or Sykes, and I instantly became a more-likely fan of both because of […]
A HUG IS LIKE VIOLENCE MADE OF LOVE
“When they say to one another, ‘May the Force be with you,’ it is precisely this that they mean: It is a wish that when the time comes to leap into the void and to make a decision based on instinct and trust, you are rewarded for that act and not punished. The hope is that if you meet the galaxy halfway, it meets you in the middle and carries you the rest of the distance.” I literally checked this book out of the library […]
YOU KNOW WHAT I LIKE THE NEW CANON EU. I LIKE IT A LOT.
The good news is this book is better than the first one. The bad news is . . . well, there isn’t really any bad news. This book is better than the first one. The end. Children of the Corn
This is the final book in Chuck Wendig’s Heartland Trilogy. And there is a part of me that is very glad to be finally done, but I don’t want you to think I didn’t enjoy it, because I did. I think I mentioned in a previous review, I am not fond of Wendig’s writing style, and so while I enjoyed the novel it just wasn’t my favorite. Honestly, I think if this ever gets turned into a movie I will eat it up. I loved […]
A GMO Built Wasteland
This is the second book in a trilogy, but I finished the first book in December of 2015, and thus it is not eligible. If you’re interested in this book, obviously you should probably look at the first one first. I’m going to try to avoid spoilers for the first book here, but as this is a sequel and builds off of those events there are probably going to be at least a few. Before I start (and thus before the cut happens, so you […]
