This was a fun way to spend several hours, but I actually think I would have liked it better if I had never read Pride and Prejudice. If you’re not aware, Heartstone is debut author Elle Katharine White’s retelling of the Jane Austen classic (a top ten book for me), but with dragons (and such). I want to be clear that I find nothing wrong with this book at all. It’s a cleverly told story that takes the frame of its source material and transforms […]
Thank you so much to Bunnybean for these books. I’m very excited to read both of them! One I’ve been eyeing for months (I squealed when I saw The Whole Art of Detection–I’m really on a Sherlock Holmes kick right now, which is a bit of an understatement, actually), and one was a happy surprise. You guys, you can’t even believe how fired up my house was on Christmas Eve when we told the kids it was ok to go ahead and open up their Cannonball Exchange books. There was much rejoicing. Mswas, Yesknopemaybe, HasenKlub, you guys are the best. You are the reason that we keep doing this every year. This is pretty much the best virtual group of friends on the planet! Horses, Gilmore Girls, World War II, The New England Patriots — all of their interests were […]
BUNNYBEAN. You are my HERO!!! Not only did you pick the PERFECT gift for me, but you even shipped it overseas!! Thank you so much for being the BEST CBR BOOK GIVER EVER!!!! <3 <3 <3

I wasn’t all that excited about reading it, to be honest. I loved Cinder and Scarlet, and really liked Cress. And then I read Fairest. And I despised it. It really almost ruined the entire series for me. It was so heavy-handed and annoying, I […]
