It’s time for me to FINNALY go all-in on some good old fashioned FAN TA SY. Normally, these are the sort of books that I pick up in the bookstore, give a “hmm” at the cover, and keep walking. I’ve never been great at immersing myself in fantasy worlds outside of the big-names; I just don’t have a memory for the complex lore and histories of most fantasy epics. Thanks Ashlie/Ardaigle! These arrived on my birthday and totally made my day. 🙂
I’m excited to jump into these two books in the next few weeks. They’ll be my first two reviews of CBR22 in the new year. Books are If We Were Villains by M. L. Rios and Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. These books have been blessed by my patron saints Liz Lemon, Beyoncé, and Shea Couleé.

My doctor diagnosed me with anxiety in February, a mere month before my state issued its stay-at-home order, and I’ve been teaching my college classes remotely since March. I have done a LOT of reading, but have had precious little energy to put words together beyond emails to students. Here’s hoping 2021 is better. On a cheerier note, I love the CBR Book Exchange and had to […]
