How To Succeed in Business (by Being A White Guy)

March 1, 2014 by ASKReviews Leave a Comment

During a training on equity and social justice, the leader showed a bit of Simon Sinek’s talk on “Starting with Why”. She only showed a couple of minutes, but I was intrigued enough to buy his book. [ted id=848] The Good The underlying concept is interesting and I think pretty useful. While the book is focused on success in the business world, I think the concept is sound when applied in other sectors and even one’s personal life. The theory is this: most companies can […]

From a Bitter Kitten

February 27, 2014 by Caitlin_D Leave a Comment

As  I mentioned in a previous review I have a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising. I also have an (probably unhealthy) obsession with celebrities and pop culture. Most of my bookmarked sites are for celebrity gossip, movie & television news and fashion blogs. One of my favorite blogs is http://tomandlorenzo.com/ run by TLo (as they are called)- a gay couple who are New York adjacent (Philadelphia I believe)- which started out as “Project Rungay”. They began during the first season of Project Runway (when it was […]

On the Road Again

February 26, 2014 by anotterchaos 1 Comment

See, this is what I get when I read two books on the same topic sequentially. The title says it.  Michael Kostroff is one of those actors that make you say, “Hey!  That guy!  What was he in?”  In this book, the answer is “The Producers” (ensemble and understudy for Max Bialystock), and “Les Miserables” (Thenardier). Like the last book I reviewed, Unnaturally Green, this is a memoir of a touring actor.  In the first book, the actor is young, and green in more ways […]

Another Unsolved Mystery

February 26, 2014 by tmoney Leave a Comment

(From Amazon) Shortly after midnight on March 18, 1990, two men broke into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and committed the largest art heist in history. They stole a dozen masterpieces, including one Vermeer, three Rembrandts, and five Degas. But after thousands of leads—and a $5 million reward—none of the paintings have been recovered. Worth as much as $500 million, the missing masterpieces have become one of the nation’s most extraordinary unsolved mysteries. Ulrich Boser, who has followed this case for decades, took […]
