Three Bee Honey Volume 1 by Desi St. Amant and Jon St. Amant (illustrator) is a cute story with a little edge.The edge is that there is a bit of depict happening within the bee hive, and the queen is unaware. So far, the worst things that have happened is that the girls have gotten caught in a spiderweb, almost got eaten and of course, escaped; our main character has been well… something happens to her but I don’t want to give spoilers, and there is a battle where a few bees didn’t make it, but it is handled well. 
The idea is pretty simple: three young bees find themselves as slight outcasts and when the hive runs on everyone doing what they are supposed to do when they are supposed to all together, being outsiders doesn’t bode well. But we see them come into their own a bit, learn about teamwork, friendship and doing your best, but just as you think things will be Happy Ever After, there is a cliff hanger! So you are left with asking: Will they be able to balance passion and home? Will they stop the bad bees from stealing more honey? And will the girls sing in another big concert? (They learn that they are good singers, the underworld/below the hive isn’t as bad as they were told, and they like being friends).
Well, I won’t say I was hanging on the edge of my chair during things, but ages at least 8 and up probably will. And this goes for the images as well. They are sweet, cute, and fun. You see “stuff” (there are a few black eyes after the battle) but it isn’t over the top or anything that would be overly “intense.” Without more to go on, I honestly can’t say this is the best series or “just” a decent one, or maybe it will drop the pollen sack and not work out.
