The cover says it all: Gnartoons by James the Stanton are going to be your favorite cartoon book or the worst piece of monkey doo-doo you have ever seen.
Anyway, so can I give this a Zero?
As you can see, I am not the audience for this. Or maybe I was too subtle? So, let me sum up: This was the worst piece of monkey doo-doo (only I really did not say doo-doo) I have seen in a very long time. I have had misses this year, but this book struck out so hard the other team took pity on it. There is nothing I found redeeming. But then again, what did I expect from the author of I Think Our Friend Dan Might Be a Dolphin? (Well, since I blocked out how much I disliked that one, I didn’t make the connection right away to be honest.)
With that said, did you like Bug Boys by Laura Knetzger when you were aged 10 and up? Are you over 21 now? Do you like really really hard acid trips? Do you like Bears “gettin’ it on” with Deer? And your ex (bear) crazy girlfriend killing current (deer) girlfriend? Do you like images where the cover image is the most sane illustration of the bunch? Do you like gnomes getting so stoned they know eventually they’ll crap themselves? (And do?) Then go for it.
What is worse than an acid trip? (Three acid trips?) Well, I didn’t even take half a trip as I couldn’t get past around page 10. Said bear and deer story was it for me. I mean I can do horror if it’s not gratuitous and for the sake of titulation, but this was just …. Yeah it just was.
