One two three four five
You will get some fabulous
Cat hilarity
When you read Haiku Cats by C B Fraser.
Okay, that is not the best haiku ever written (but hopefully not the worst…). But regardless, if you like cats then you NEED this adorable, cute, clever, fun and perfect for all types of cat and poetry lovers book. In the 5/7/5 syllable haiku pattern we learn the nature of the beast of the toe beans and purrs.
Oh sure we also see its catatude, its sassy, its brass and its as… tail. Each poem is illustrated with black and white Asian style influenced illustrations. If you know cats, you know their joys and pains, so you will be able to laugh, cry and empathize with them. You don’t even really need to like poetry, but the haiku has always been one of my favorite forms as they say a lot without saying much (kinda like cats.)
The below two poems are samples of what you will find inside the pages of the book. Personally, I would have picked the one about how cats (did I mention the book is narrated by cats?) only need you for their food.
you’ve only nine lives;
don’t squander even one
on trying to behave!

sniff and walk away;
casual indifference
is so compelling!
Yet, I think they give you an idea of the majority of the work.
Read via an online reader copy I know I will be finding several copies for friends and family as gifts. I’m assuming that the book will be on the smaller side, and not in a traditional “novel” format, more of a little gift book, but regardless it is a must have.
