Cbr18 Bingo – And: see title, although I’m not sure why it’s called that though. Maybe because that’s how natural the two characters are together.
Fish and Water by Gengoroh Tagame just came out in the US, and even includes non-permission to use the content of the volume for AI. It’s the first time I’ve seen (noticed) an AI training prohibition statement.
However, the story is from 2022. And it feels like it.
Koji is a freelance writer and the pandemic lockdown didn’t change his life as much as it did for others. He already worked from home. His friend Akira is a businessman and his life was changed. But it’s been a few years and he’s used to it.
Part of Akira’s job includes visiting farmers. During one trip, he’s gifted some bulk produce. So he does the only thing a single guy who doesn’t cook can do with a box of cabbage. He brings it over to his pal Koji for a cabbage party.
And so the love story begins.
Koji likes to cook. Akira likes to hang out at Koji’s home. They unmask around each other and share streaming services. They talk about current events and travel out into the world that’s starting to open up again. They make plans for a future.
I loved Gengoroh Tagame other work, My Brother’s Husband and I did not like this as much. But asking for another My Brother’s Husband is a high bar, which is not skepticism about Tagame’s skill or ability. This just is a pleasant low stakes romance in the high stakes stress of living in 2022.
