Oh God, what is going to happen to our country.
I felt annoyed with everyone involved. That includes Biden by the way. I get why he was angry. Heck, I would have been too, especially since I really wish someone had said out loud, a Black woman being seen as pushing out the White Male President of the U.S. is not going to play well. At all. And it didn’t. But he (Biden) should have sucked it up. And then of course, I have to say that I think that Kamala’s campaign had a bad call of not using him, because again, it made it look terrible, but he started to tick me off throughout this memoir due to several actions that he and Jill Biden did to Kamala. Kamala recounts that stupid moment that Biden put on the MAGA hat and I recall that and went JFC too. She recounts him calling her right before she debated Trump to lash out at her and I would have cursed Robinette out. Let’s not forget the trash comment and the press not letting that mess go for like 4 news cycles. Honestly though I won’t blame him for her losing, because she wasn’t going to win.
We also get her talking about trying to meet with Joe Rogan and my God I maybe screamed into a pillow. I recall everyone talking about how that would change things, flip White male and White female voters…..I really do want to ask people do they not understand racism but honestly, I don’t even think Kamala fully understands it. That wasn’t going to do anything. Same thing with people saying as soon as Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala it was going to be a wrap. I just looked around and wondered if I was in a fever dream when that whole mess happened.
I will say this, people have thoughts/feelings about a lot of things, but as someone who had voted in the VA Primary and it was for Biden/Harris, I know a ton of Democrats in this state were really angry that their votes went to Harris/Walz. The DNC Party as it was called by the press felt really hollow and I recall thinking, this isn’t working, this is a mess. They really don’t see what’s coming.
Harris tries for a hopeful tone at the end of this and talking about how 2/3 of the U.S. didn’t vote for Trump, it’s just that 1/3 stayed home. And honestly to everyone who voted Trump and stayed home because both sides and all of that……
Anyway, all this book did was make me loathe several people like Pelosi even more.
And I know it sounds like Harris may run for President again, but God love her, she won’t win. And not because she’s not qualified. It’s because our country never had to ever look itself in the face and reckon with its past. We now have the sitting Vice President saying white people don’t need to apologize for being white anymore. The country has been heading to this since Obama won. I don’t know if we are strong enough together to beat this back. ICE, the end of USAID, trying to take over Canada, Greenland, the U.S. being quite happy to take over Gaza and turn it into hotels, forcing Ukraine to accept whatever they can because we won’t support them, U.S. citizens and others being demonized for their race, religion, and country of origin. I hope we can get better, but at this point, I don’t trust us to be.
Maybe one day Kamala will do a longer memoir of her 4 years of Vice President, because I really want to read about how she felt about so called Democrats, donors, and others that worked for Biden running around and calling her not smart and everyone and their mother constantly coming for her.
