I probably cannot say enough good things about Book Love by Debbie Tung. Has the theme been done before? Yes, these are not new issues book lovers have had to deal with. However they are just fun, everyday issues, loves, joys and heartbreaks of the reader. Each page makes them come alive in silly, cute, relatable black and white images. If you have ever considered yourself a Reader with a capital R, this is the book you want to read when you need a break from the “tougher stuff” we have read or the stuff we deal with during the day.
There are only one or two pages per situation. Therefore, you can read one or two at a time. In between books and want to clean the palette? Read a few pages! Having a long day? Take time out and read a few pages! In the bathroom and you forgot your phone? Pick up this book! (Therefore, make sure you have copies in every room in your house, car, workplace and purse.) The cover gives you the look of what the images inside will look like. They are simple, but tell the story well. You see the bookcases, watch our heroine as she tries to peek at what other readers are reading, we can commiserate with her as she finishes that heart-wrenching story that makes her/you want more. The humor is not subtle, but neither is over the top.
I recommend this sweet book as a gift for the Bookie on your holidays, birthdays, or just because lists. Also, I recommend Everything is Ok by them as well (but only if you want to read all they have written as this is a 180 theme difference).
