Benji Nate is one screwed up person and you will love or hate their work. Sometimes at the same time, like Girl Juice was for me.
This graphic novel is broken down into two main sections. The first follows four roommates that might not really like each other, but they do seem to love each other and have each other’s backs. Unless there is a cute boy, or work, or you know, they have something better to do. We mostly focus on Bunny (the self-proclaimed God’s Favorite lil Slut) as she does her thing (and anything that will do her back). Each story is a few pages each, with many being only a page or two. The other three gals (Nana, Tallulah and Sadie) come into play as the four circle each other, dating (two girls are dating each other, one has a clown thing), work, art, camping, shooting boys in the butt, social media and more. Relationships between mothers and daughters, ghosts, exorcisms, sex, men who like to be treated like dogs (and have the collars to prove it) and more come alive. The second half focuses on one of the girls and her social media demon. Here we see a more solid, and more traditional graphic novel subject/storyline. I preferred the shorter stories, but this part had a lot of merit, too
The art is typical Nate, though I only saw one green haired gal (something that seems to stick in my mind as something that represents Nate and their work), but there are a lot of odd eyes, mouths, and fetishes. Mature language, nudity, and situations, but nothing we have not seen before dot the pages.
